Did Not Survive the Icy Evening

Winter 2026. A lot of ice and snow.
Our cargo bike reaches its limits.

At least one hundred tons of food, roughly the distance from Hamburg to Rome*.

Our faithful first cargo bike, after dedicated service, did not survive an icy Monday evening unscathed. It may be possible to grant it a dignified continued life through welding work, but there is no need to fall into deep mourning or despair.

The Lademeister from Tricargo has been
our first e-cargo bike since January 2026.
Since mid-January 2026, we have proudly owned a Tricargo Lademeister. It carries four times the load of number one and has already proven to be a historic milestone in the work of RTH Retten Teilen Helfen.

Our thanks go to Tricargo, our donors, and Bafa (Federal Office for Economic Affairs and Export Control), who supported us in obtaining this vehicle. We are also very happy about the official sticker from the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Climate Protection, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety.

Gregor Hartz pulls a sled
loaded with a crate of rescued food.
We also thank our neighbors, who once saved our day by helping us with a sled to get through the winter.

*With our old cargo bike, we covered roughly this distance in total, of course only within Hamburg, not from Hamburg to Rome itself. ;-)
